I've been wanting to recommend this series, but didn't know how to put it into words. So I stole some, from here. =)
This got long, so here's a short version
: The (fanmade, btw) video focuses on fight scenes, but the main reasons for me to keep on watching were that it's a) extremely likeable, 2) the creators put a lot of thought into it (the visuals as well as the characters and world-building) and c) Toph. You'll understand when you get there, though she doesn't show up until the 2nd season,
Earth. (Fire being the third and last.) Oh, and those aren't really dubs. They're the original version. =)

"I have so much love for Avatar that I keep defaulting to generalities to fit it all into a paragraph. But I want you all to watch it, and generalities aren't interesting, specifics are. So, two things:

1) It's gorgeous. They spend money on the animation, for one. For two, the magic system they created is recognizably based on a mix of martial arts. To use their magic (aka bending), characters have to move constantly in a way that not only has a visually obvious correlation to, say, the way the fire is moving, but the martial arts inspiration means the motion is based (and depicted quite well!) on traditions of grace and physical ability that are thousands of years old. Martial artists know how to show off human body. Watching the fight scenes gives me *shivers* of glee.

2) Sokka, as seen above. An example of how Avatar creates loveable characters. Ok, one, he's hilarious. He has almost all the quotable lines. Two, he's such a boy, and by that I mean, you know guys just like him. He doesn't jive completely (or sometimes much at all) with the masculinity you expect from TV; instead he jives with your brother or your cousin or that guy who sat behind you in Algebra II. For example, in canon when you want to cheer Sokka up, you take him shopping. In addition to being comic relief, older brother, science smart guy, and a warrior, at one point he holds up the group with the most hilariously perfect indecision about whether he wants to buy a new stylish shoulder bag. And then in the very next scene demands to know why his sister let him buy this--it doesn't match at all.

ALSO, IT'S ACTION PACKED AND FULL OF PLOT AND STORYTELLING AND WORLD-BUILDING. AND UNPREDICTABLE. One thing I will say if you watch this show? Don't read spoilers. It will be a roller coaster of a ride. And it's also cute, since someone at some point thought this show should be for eleven year olds. Weirdos. XD"
