Free File Converter

seems like a viable alternative to benderconverter, since that one apparently went darkside.

If you don’t have the ability to/are uncomfortable with torrenting, you can at least console yourself that the episodes are gonna go up on iPlayer… oh, wait. We can’t watch stuff on iPlayer if we’re in the US.

Or CAN we?

The answer is yes. Yes, we can. For FREE.

How?

TunnelBear!

Okay—here’s what you do:

1) Download it from tunnelbear.com
2) Run the installer
3) Sign up
4) Open the program
5) Click the right-hand dial to “UK”
6) Click the left-hand dial to “On”

Wait for it to load—it changes from a gray screen that says “connecting” to a blue screen with a meter showing your bandwidth use.

Once it’s up and running, just go to any web site in the UK that has a video player, and click play just like you would any other site with video on it.

That’s it!

OH, AND, FOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE UK:

It works in reverse.

That’s right; if you live in the UK and can’t watch video on US sites, get yourself a TunnelBear and click the right-hand dial to “US” instead of “UK.”

Where is my Jet-Pack? - In the US? Can’t/won’t torrent? Wanna see stuff on iPlayer?

um. haven't tried it yet but pretty sure it should work from other countries as well. more info @ source.

Why You Should Think Twice About Opting-In to the Delicious-AVOS Transfer | ZDNet

Current (and about to be former) Delicious Terms state:

(…) In accessing Delicious or following links to third-party websites you may be exposed to content that you consider offensive or inappropriate. You agree that your only recourse is to stop using Delicious.

The New AVOS-Delicious Terms have new rules - rules that change Delicious in a serious way:

You agree not to do any of the following: post, upload, publish, submit or transmit any Content that: (…) violates, or encourages any conduct that would violate, any applicable law or regulation or would give rise to civil liability; (iii) is fraudulent, false, misleading or deceptive; (iv) is defamatory, obscene, pornographic, vulgar or offensive (…)

Punishment for posting links that violate the new Terms: AVOS-Delicious has the right to remove all your bookmarks/content at its discretion and without notice.

Old Readability Bookmarklet

even better than the diy-assembly bookmarklet:
easy-to-use, check-as-you-adjust old style readability bookmarklet. (all the readability you need, none of the page tracking.)

OH FUCK YES.

Anyone as bothered as me by the new version of Readability (they've got very fine reasons, but I really, *really* don't need them tracking my reading, plus the URL-changing thing was fucking with my bookmarking habits, as well as adding an extra click every single time; there was much swearing in several languages):
Head over here to grab a version of the old bookmarklet. It's pre-set, so don't delete your previous bookmarklet yet in case you need to customize it.
(C&P bookmarklet properties from old and new version into text editor of some kind, adjust where style, margin or size differ, paste back into properties. Reply/contact if more detailed instructions are needed.)

Soup-Pager for Greasemonkey

Adds a link to the next page when using the endless scrolling feature on soup.io
Script simply adds a link to the next page - just in case endless scrolling fails again.
Or you want to continue permascrolling the next day, and don't want to see everything again.

We let you have as many contact forms as you need, for free.
Every contact form is accessible by its own simple URL that you choose.

A simple app that's become essential to me very fast. What does it do? It increases the readability. (duh. ^^) Set font size, font (kind of, you'll see) and margin size, grab bookmarklet. Open source.
It has noticably increased my reading (or rather, comprehending) speed, especially with scientific or news articles and with longer texts.
Behold my mad image editing skills with the before/after shots. McGuyver would be proud.
